This is an easy-to-read, first-stop on the journey toward understanding corporate purchase of politicians. In addition to indirect donations through PACs, Super PACs, and Dark Money, plus direct Lobbying, businesses influence politics through Corporate Advocacy. The website presents information with a neutral tone. Rather than vilifying businesses, it simply states the facts.

Open Secrets Learning Center

You may or may not have heard of Open Secrets. This is a nonpartisan, nonprofit website that provides data about money in politics. It is big and comprehensive, but easy-to-use.

For a nice overview of money in politics, the "Learning Center" is a great place to begin reading. After a tiny intro, the page provides a few links that open easy-to-read, short synopses of how money flows through the U.S. political landscape toward the most powerful sources. The pages are equipped with easy-to-understand visuals like bar and line graphs.
