Getting Involved in Politics

I never had any interest in getting involved in politics. I just wanted to enjoy life.

Hi, my name is Matt Weimann. I live in Pennsylvania. I’m a teacher. I’ve also run my own small business, painting homes for the past 25-plus years. I’ve been married just as long, and we have a 13 year old daughter.

I enjoy gardening, building stuff, and feel immense satisfaction when I can fix something myself, whether it be leaky plumbing, replacing a toilet, or gutting and refinishing my own bathroom!

I’ve been way too busy to worry about politics, but politics has got me worried.

I’m still not very excited about getting involved in politics… But, if I don’t, who will?

It’s time… It is beyond time to begin making this country a place where average people can live fulfilling lives that are actually free.

What I’m looking to do is push the American political landscape toward helping average Americans. I’m not focused on fighting against how much the government seems to favor the rich.

I just want regular, working people… people who have to wait for their paycheck to clear before buying groceries, people who have to save up for that long anticipated but well-earned vacation, people who are juggling credit cards to make ends meet… you know, us… I want us to get what we deserve… a government that works for us.

I’m sick of hearing “America First,” only to watch money that could fund universal health care for Americans; billions of dollars is sent to foreign countries in order to help kill people.

How many times has it been asked, “How are you going to pay for that?” when a program meant to help average Americans is proposed? The real kicker… the part that is nearly unbelievable is that these countries that our government is sending our hard-earned money to… They’re people actually have free healthcare! It’s incredible.

The Pentagon has failed 7 of its last 7 audits, and yet mention of cutting its budget is avoided like the plague, but the same people who espouse “America First” to get to public office are chomping at the bit to run roughshod over Social Security!

And, can someone PLEASE explain to me how America’s youth will have a better education by eliminating the department of education?!

I know I’m only a SMALL business owner, and perhaps I don’t fully understand the machinations of growing a multi-million dollar company, but from my limited experience, I know you have to spend money to make money.

And, what I’m getting at right now… What I’m trying to say… Is that… Don’t you feel like it’s time the American government spent its money to make your lives better? Wouldn’t it be nice for our politicians to fight for you to actually get something from all of the taxes we pay?

You hear “America First,” but we all see something very different. Isn’t it about time we put average Americans Actually First?
