Yes, you will vote for Republican politicians, or perhaps you voted for Democrats. But, don’t label yourself a Democrat (D) or Republican (R). Instead, be an American who votes one way or the other.

My point for avoiding identifying as a D or an R is that once you title yourself, you tie yourself down. By claiming D or R as your party, you pledge your allegiance to that group. And, once your loyalties lie with a group, you become defensive whenever anyone shares anything negative about it.

By maintaining an air of independence, through refusing to title oneself D or R, one can think more clearly, analyze the pros and cons of both sides, and evaluate candidates to determine who deserves your vote. Parties change. They evolve. Movements move, and the directions they take may not align with what you originally valued. If you can resist marrying yourself to a movement or political party, you will avoid a painful divorce if the organization changes so much that it conflicts with your values beyond acceptance.

If you subscribe to being a D or R person, you are in danger of losing your mind. Your ability to think critically will be jeopardized. You will no longer be able to evaluate your party critically. It is part of you, and in lieu of self preservation, you will defend yourself, no matter what.

This is actually an attractive circumstance for many people. Thinking critically, doing research, reading, learning, and evaluating is a lot of work! Letting the leaders of the parties do that for you would lighten the load. It makes sense to conserve energy.

I am not one of those kinds of people. I am a thinker and a hard-worker, and I'm looking for others who are also hard-working, critical-thinking independents like myself to partner with me.

If this sounds like you, and you are interested in being part of something exciting and action-packed, please consider joining me in putting America Actually First. I'm looking for help researching. I need people to help put together small reports to make public. Our message needs to be shared to spread.
